1141KM (2022)
“1141 km is the distance between my home and my home.”
As the son of Moroccan immigrants, the artist documents the journey undertaken by thousands and thousands of families every summer, coinciding with school holidays.
This journey becomes a pilgrimage. It is experienced as a return, yet there comes a point when one has spent more time “abroad” than at “home.” With this idea in mind, the photographer explores the strange feeling that arises when you realize that the concept of home is blurred, and nearly impossible to locate in a single place.
In the end, one always wonders whether they are going to or returning from Morocco.
